I am excited to share my latest project: a set of accessories designed to facilitate electronic circuit repair using the InfiRay P2 Pro thermal camera and its macro optical complement. This project aims to provide a flexible and efficient solution, connected to an Android phone, for analyzing electronic circuits while maintaining the versatility to use the camera for other applications.

Background and Motivation

The idea behind this project is to create a modular and easily configurable system, avoiding the limitations of a dedicated system. By using a thermal camera, you can quickly identify defective components by detecting excessive heat or abnormal cold, which is essential in electronic repairs.

System Components

  • Aluminum Microscope Stand: This stand provides a solid and stable base with a standard 35 mm opening to accommodate the camera and its optical accessories. It is adaptable to various models thanks to its universal design. The base size is 110 x 200 mm, ensuring great stability and ample workspace.

  • Phone Holder with Hotshoe Mount: Designed to be compatible with photography tripods, this holder allows you to easily attach your Android phone, transforming your mobile device into a convenient and efficient viewing screen.

  • Work Platform: To optimize the workspace and avoid conductivity issues with aluminum, I designed a 3D-printable platform that fits seamlessly with the setup.

  • Shims for Camera Positioning: The system includes two shims to adjust the camera height: one for use with the macro optical complement and one without it. This ensures the optimal focus and field of view depending on your application needs.

  • Brass Inserts: The design utilizes M3 brass inserts (5x5 mm) for secure and reliable assembly of the components, providing durability and ease of maintenance.

  • Thermal Camera: InfiRay P2 Pro, known for its precision and reliability in thermal detection.

  • Macro Optical Complement: An 8 mm macro lens specially designed to enhance the resolution and precision of the InfiRay P2 Pro camera in close-up applications.
