The EPV is based on David Perry's excellent F-F-Fiddle, which you can find right here. My daughter has been taking violin lessons recently, and I wanted to build an electric violin. While the F-F-Fiddle is really nice, I was not able to easily scale it down for a 6 year old girl - so used it as inspiration and then designed and build 1/2 scale violin for her.
As soon as that was finished, my son (age three) decided that he needed one too, so I refined the design and built a [1/16 scale violin].(http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:457018) for him.
At this point, I thought I was finished, but then the violin teacher was extremely excited and asked her if I could make her one too. At this point, I threw up my hands, said "Why not?" and decided that my next design was going to be scalable so that I could make any size violin that someone would ask for. And now, you can too!
