The file 'Easy To Print-And-Grip Chess Set 3D Printer Model' is (stl) file type, size is 5.3MB.
Designed to be especially easy to print with no need for rafts, supports, or trees.
As a teacher, I wanted to design a set that I could bring into the classroom that I could print without worrying too much about the settings or supports. I also wanted to make sure that they would be especially easy to grip, that way the miniature set I also included in the files would be easier to manipulate and control.
While most of my designs are pretty much custom made by myself, I did take two elements from "Big Chess Set" by faultedlogic, specifically the bases for each piece and the knight.
The main challenge was creating an easy to print knight, that needed no supports and still looked good when "miniaturized". All I really did was put in some filler for the gap between the horse's jaw and the base (for easy printing and grip) as I couldn't think of any other reasonable way to improve upon it.
You may also have noticed my king has no cross for a crown, this was intentional as, again, I intend to bring these to my classroom and I try not to standardized religious symbols. That, and I see no real need when I believe this design looks quite "kingly".
That's all I really have to share about this set. It was a lot of fun developing these pieces and if you like them, please let me know!
