A simple to print complex item, an attractive home for your garden feathered friends.
I have been practicing printing larger items with internal structures and this seemed the ideal test bed. It is a work in progress and may be amended as I go along - slightly thicker top neck and stiffer perches that orbit the nest for example. The extra perches in the files above work but the orbital ones are a little thin...something I may fix. Suggest the cross shaped perch is most practical all round (having owned a large aviary in my youth).
It is a simple print, suggest 2 or 3 perimeters depending on your slicing software and 10% to 15% infill. Ensure your filament is not crossed/tangled and hit print.
Approx 4 to 6 hours and voila!
Likewise the perches are simple enough and simply friction fit into the elliptical hole.
Would love to see photos of them inhabited!
This model is leading on to some very awesome stuff to follow...
