Summary

WARNING! (sand down sharp edges of the clasp and be careful when putting on and taking off!. if it feels too tight, re print to larger size to fit, which will increase the mouth opening of this ring. This is meant as a design in progress. Use your own common sense judgement about its use)

the ring wirs itself is 2mm. Diameter of the ring is 20mm.

I made the clasp part small to minimize its appearance and to look more like a real pierced ear ring on ear.and put the bumps in an attempt to give it ability to hold weight of ear ring charms. I test printed with ABS, and it seems to be fairly durable to spread a few millimeters for application, but found the edges are sharp and can draw blood. I filed down to round out the edges and had less trouble. I may make a few different sizes to accomodade more range of ear lobe thicknesses. I am also exploring rounding out the edges in the file itseld and incresing the size of clasp pads for more comfortable fit. I welcome your comments.

I designed this to use on piercing free ear for my jewelry. This is a ear nose ring clasp (20mm diameter) for ears/noses that do not have a piercing.. Be careful to file or sand down sharp edges before putting on ear or other body parts. I will be making other models of ear ring clasps. THis clasp can be used in conjunction with my ear ring charms. This clasp can also be used as a nose ring fo rthos without a piercing in nose. Please send me your comments and suggestions.

UPDATE: I have add accessory links to attach to the main ring and the the attached charms. It is 9mm diameter to outside edge, the wire is 1mm diameter and has an opening to allow for linking up lings together as well. Print as many links as you like. the file is a 1 link file

Safety issues: I am been researching what i Can find out about the use of PLA or ABS on the skin (as inthe form of slaps and nostril area.. I am could not find much and what little i did find suggests conflicting information about it.. It seems it leans more towards it being relatively safe under norbal conditions because the melting temperature is over 200 degrees.. and body tempartures usually average under 100 degrees max for for healthy people. I am not clear if there are any issues below melting point and at what temperature that would be.. So do your own research on what you think about it in terms of safety. And if you are in doubut, you might want to refrain from using as clasp on body parts. And if any of you have any more information please share. I suppose alternatives include having parts printed with known nontoxic materials for piercings?? If there are any??)
