Summary

This is a remix of http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:833722 for use with LM8LUU (long) bearings (4.5cm long vs 2.4cm long) for much improved stability. And also a much better and sturdier holder for the driving belt.

Use the mount part from the original design with this carriage (not included here).

4 Holes allow you to access the screws to un/secure the hotend from behind like in the original design.

More info about using chimera/cyclops on prusa i3: http://wiki.e3d-online.com/wiki/Cyclops/Chimera_on_Prusa_i3.

Some notes:

  • This carriage is much lower than traditional prusa i3 carriages, on some printer (on mine for example) the x carriage couldn't go down enough without cut slightly in the frame to avoid it hitting the coupling to the Z axis drive screw. Took only a couple of minutes with my dremel and a tungsten carbide burr.

  • Make sure to adapt the X stop switch according to your printer, for my part I glued a small cube on the left hand of the carriage since it was easier than move the switch.

Works like a charm so fast and I got a total of ~150g for the whole thing including 2 print heads. My previous dual extruder mount was about 3x heavier including print heads.. I do notice an improvement in quality.
