The file 'E24 Series Resistor Storage Solution 3D Printer Model' is (stl) file type, size is 5.2MB.
Four section resistor storage solution for the full E24 series. The E24 series has 24 values each of which exist on 6 powers of 10. So for example: 1e0, 1e1, 1e2, 1e3, 1e4, 1e5, 1e6 or as it is on the labels: 1.0, 10, 100, 1k, 10k, 100k, 1M. That means there are a total of 6*24 = 144 different resistor values. Technically the E24 series is for 5% resistors, but it is easy and cheap to get all of these common values as 1% resistors.
These drawers could also be used for other small components and the labels could be easily made out of card stock instead of being printed. The full set of 4 frames, 24 drawers and 144 labels took a bit over 100 hours of printing time. The drawers are about 1.3 kg, the frames 0.67 kg, and the labels about 75 grams. (All in PLA at 15% infill.)
There is a hole in the back of the frame in the middle of each slot which is reinforced for mounting with standard wood screws. You can see the ones I used in the photos. The back of each drawers has a small indented section to fit over the screw head. Each section in the drawers has a rounded floor so that "scraping" components out is significantly easier.
I designed the whole set in Fusion 360. To make the labels easier to do I connected the various labels in a single group with very thin "bars" so that Fusion would allow them to be counted as a single body (which made patterning the text possible). These "bars" will be ignored by any slicer. If you want to make your own labels, use the following info:
Width: 25.8mm (or go a bit higher if you want a more snug fit)
Height: 18.2mm (and here I would suggest actually going a bit lower)
Thickness: 0.8mm (4 layers @ 0.2mm)
Corner fillets: 1mm (important to make the labels slide into the slots easily)
Number height: 8mm
Number font: Artifakt Element Black (nice because the 4 doesn't have a floating center)
Unit height: 9mm
Unit font: Arial (Bold)
You will then need to add in small bits to hold any floating inner areas (for 0,6,8 and 9)
2017-11-08 - Added an stl for test printing a compartment and an image showing the measurements.
2017-11-08 - Added a drawer version for use with 0.8 mm nozzles
2017-12-02 - Updated the 0.4mm and 0.8mm drawers with a better export that shouldn't cause issues in S3D. Fixed the 620 Ohm and 620 kOhm labels (they had been 640 by accident).
