Summary

Sharing a minimalist's way to get two reductions out of a common & affordable 130 DC Motor.

  • 2mm holes
  • The dual output shafts end in a much larger square-end driver
  • 2.5 x 8-10mm screws work stellar
  • All gear rods are 2 x 30mm
  • Pix demonstrate how to "together" it =)

Using the salvage from my "8 bit" Gear Reduction Designer as-is the "X" marks the ratio at 64:1 and the "T" = 256:1.

Adding the 8-prong epoxy gear and we're at 256:1 and 1024:1.

For this project you'll only need to print 3 files:

  • GearBox02.stl (with support)
  • GearBox02Toppers.stl (no support required)
  • GearBox02Gears.stl (no support required)

Note that the 8_epoxy_002.stl is designed to eliminate the need for a 2mm coupler. Designed to hold up amazingly well when full 'o glue I've not lost any joiners yet.

Also designed to purr like the proverbial kitten, properly beboxing the design in yours should squash any noise you'll not want part of your final.

(pardon the logo - also promising my next will not seem so Freudian... sometimes a design is just a design?)

p.s.es:

  • You'll need a 2mm drill bit to round-out those 2mm holes.
  • You'll want a 2mm hex bit to drive in the same.
