Summary

Using two GoPro cameras with 220-degree lenses, this 360-degree video headcam enables the wearer to record an experience, allowing viewers to inhabit the headspace and perspective of the wearer.

The materials needed are:

-Two GoPro cameras
-Two $50 220 degree lenses (visit aliexpress.com and search for "220 degree lens m12")
-Two 3D printed GoPro sleeves (The .STL file is available on this page)
-A $14 Face Shield (Commonly used for angle grinding)

I cut off the plastic head strap assembly from a $14 3M Professional Face Shield, 3D printed mounting shells for the two GoPros, and then fastened the shells to the front and rear facing straps on the mask using one 4-inch cable tie per shell.

To make sense of the following text, refer to the images above: When mounting the cameras I made sure that the camera lenses would face the user’s front and back. I also compensated for the lens offset, so that when the cameras were placed into their shells both lenses would reside on the same plane (notice the ruler in the images above). This makes it easier to stitch the videos together. I'm using Autopano Video to stitch.
