Summary

Early glass ornaments of the 20th century were delicate by nature, lightweight, and produced in fantastical shapes and vivid colors.

I wanted to create a modern twist on those classics while still adhering to those original notes:
Lightweight: as an ornament shouldn't stress the branch.
Colorful: as the newer multiple color filaments easily provide.
Fantastical: going beyond what was possible in glass molds using 3D printing.

Specifically designed to use Spiralize or Vase Mode keeping the part weight at 15 grams and using only 5.2 meters of filament. The resultant bridging allows light to filter in and through. The facets were cupped to allow light to bounce off them and highlight the different colors when using multi-colored filament.

I worked on the top of the model to fix all early issues with filament stringing near the tip. On the bottom the overhang is designed to print cleanly.

I have used multiple brands of filament: Polymaker, Hatchbox, Amolen, Geeetech, GiantArm, Eryone, Sovol, Bblife, Hatchbox, and Sunlu. All have worked well except for one of the GiantArm spools which had the stringing before final tweaks.

Typical notes: If you are having issues play with temperature and speed. I found the clear PLA needed to run much cooler to avoid excessive oozing at the overhangs.

My direct drive extruder and can easily print .7mm wide. I tried going wider but it didn't improve the quality.

I have only printed this in Spiralize mode. A wide brim is advised to help lock the part to bed as the neck is only .47" or 12mm diameter.

These print fast running just over an hour-and-a-half
