Summary

Inspired by http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:18564 I made my own set of dovetail markers. I actually do traditional woodworking in addition to dabbling with this crazy 3d printing stuff.

I made four versions to satisfy my shop needs.

  • Saddle Square (90 degrees)
  • 1:6 and 1:8 ratios for the two most commonly used
  • 14 degrees which also used by some

I experimented with a few orientations to see what was strongest, had the smoothest edges where it mattered.

I ended up liking the number tag face down, giving the cleanest edge on the angled faces. A bit of sanding on a hard flat surface should clean up any ridged edges though.

Over all I'm happy with the results.

Printed on Printrbot Simple with PLA (matter hackers).
