Summary

I really like the idea to print a handle for beverage cans to keep the drinks cool and your hands warm. But all of the designs I found for the 500ml can required glueing a strut to the bottom to prevent the cans from slipping.
So I designed my own can bracket/handle with a much tighter fitting to render an extra strut obsolete and cut down in printing time, material, postprocessing and ease of use.
I tried to keep the additional width small so the can still fits the holders in conventional camping chairs with the handle attached.

The can slips nicely into the holder. Removing is a bit trickier when the can is not open but quite easy when the can was emptied (the idea is to drink up anyway before removing the can)

I tested the handle with some energy drinks, bembel (apple wine) and a few beer cans. Albeit there seems to be a small height difference between some cans (~0.5mm) the handle can be attached tight to all of them.

I printed the handle in the picture with 0.2mm resolution, 20% infill and supports for the handle.
Even thou this design works quite well I already have some ideas for improvements and may add and optimize some parts of this in the future. Ideas are welcome.

Update on 24.06.2019:

  • While on a hiking trip we notices that the lid may interfere with sunglasses, so I added a second lid (Lid2.stl) than can be opened wider.

Update on 18.06.2019:

  • Redesign of the handle (more sleek)
  • Added a snap-on bottom ring for extra tight fitting of the can and better stability on tables (optional part)
  • Added a snap-on top lid to prevent insects from falling in your beverage. It also looks fancy!
