Summary

The original plywood motor mounting plate on the dolphin is known to be held onto the foam with very little glue.
Many people have designed custom 3D printed mounts, but unless you really glue them, very well, into place they can get easily yanked out, by torque and other reasons.

  1. This EXTRA-LARGE mounting plate has 34mm screw-hole centers to comply with many other prints out there.
  2. It has a large surface area so that more adhesive can touch the foam of the rear fuselage, and create a much better bond.
  3. It has three 1mm x 4mm x 5mm plugs that, when pushed into the foam, act to further stop any twisting.
  4. It also has a larger cable route, to enable easier building and an increase of airflow out of the aircraft.

WARNING: This design requires the removal of the original plywood plate AND for you to remove some of the foam, and that area is level with where it was (either with a scalpel, craft knife or any other method you see fit).

TIP: Do NOT use E6000, or any other flexible adhesive, to fix this into place. The idea of this design is for it to be permanent, so I advise you use 5 minute epoxy resin or similar, and be thorough.
