This is a template to align magnets in the side face of a 3x3 dnd tile. In this way you are sure that the magnets of an adjacent tile are perfectly lined-out with each other.
And on the other side of the template you can align magnets on the top or bottom of a 3x3 tile. This is becomes handy when you want to place wall features or stack different layers of tiles to create some kind of elevation.
