I made a version two for this shield. Version 2 has a better connection for the small gears in the assembly. I was also able to reduce the number of parts. Find the new shield design here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4990382.
I designed this shield for a friend that I play D&D with. The shield has a simple gear system on the back to open up the central compartments. Spinning the large gear on the back of the shield will cause the 3 circles on the front of the shield to spiral out, revealing the dice beneath. These holes are spaced out to fit a set of 7 dice - d20, d12, d10, d8, d6, d4, & percentile.
The main body of the shield was split into two parts so that it could fit on my print bed. Each of these parts halves was printed using multimaterial, 3 extruders. The tolerancing was tight enough to hold the two halves together.
Glue was needed to connect the top and bottom halves of the 3 gear plugs.
Parts were printed with 20% infill and 0.15mm layer height. Supports were only used for the 3 shield symbol parts and the central dice holder. This print was made in PLA.
