Designed and build this simple, yet very flexible quick-release case for the DJI Osmo Action in 2019 when the device was released. I used it for a while now, with every possible setup and gear, and I always felt happy to have it, as there is nothing like it out there.

Your action camera just slides sideways inside and stays in there securely, even on heavy shaking (depends a little on the material).

It's also perfect companion for vlogging on a selfie-stick or a stand.
The case makes it very easy to swap batteries or attach additional cables and gear.

The cold shoe allows you to mount anything you want. You can mount external microphones - e.g. Rode Wireless Go - or extension plates for more space and gear. The case can handle some extra weight as well - trust me :)

I tried to print this in PLA first but there was just too much tension and after a while shaking it, the part eventually broke. Also shock absorption of PLA is not very good in my observation. Sometimes a tiny quake breaks the PLA print already. (Maybe less infill could have helped it but I never tried that.)

I finally printed this holster in carbon fiber nylon filament from SaintSmart and it came out gorgeous! It's very lightweight and very flexible while being brutally rigid and durable at the same time! Printed with supports and 100% infill. In 2020 I bought an SLA printer and this part came out just perfect out of that as well!
Oh, and I made a second version that features 2x cold shoe mounts! Now you can have a light and a shotgun mic attached at the same time, yey.
