Easy to build lab power supply from cheap eBay parts (approx. $16).

What you will need:

  • Power Supply unit: eBay Search
  • Spare laptop power supply (I use one with 19.5V DC / 4.9A)
  • Some black/red/yellow wires (from old PC power supply)
  • Female banana panel plugs: eBay Search
  • On/off panel switch: eBay Search
  • 4pcs 3x15mm countersink self-threading screws.
  • Printed case
  • Solder iron.

Note: Max. output voltage is limited to input voltage - 0.5V. Using the suggested laptop power supply will give a max. output of 19V.

Follow photos for assembly.

Printing time for case is approx. 3½h.
