Discrete Filament Holder for Home and Office
3D printers are working their way into our homes, and home offices, and are not only meant for commercial use any longer.
While the 3D printer makers are selling compact and well-designed 3D printers to blend into our homes and offices, it´s safe to say that stacks of grey, industry-looking filament spools are not exactly «blending in».
This solution combines a 3D-printed filament holder with a traditional ring binder to make those spools blend perfectly into your office, disguised as traditional office supplies. Several ring binders may for instance be placed next to each other on a shelf above the 3D printer. The colour of each binder may represent the filament colour, or information such as filament colour, size and type may be written on the ring binder front label.
The solution consists of two side brackets which are connected to a standard 80mm ring binder using the two bottom plates. A rod with flanges which rotates freely holds the filament spool, hidden inside the ring binder.
Materials used for this solution is only 100 g (incl. support material), combined with a standard ring binder for $5, this is a cheap solution for supporting your filament spools and giving your office a more organized and clean look!
