Summary

I designed this Direct Drive mount/adapter for my Ender 3, but it can be used on other Creality 3D printers with similar X-carriage plate, and Original / Aluminium extruder or (CR-10S PRO style) Dual Geared extruder with: Small / Big coupler.

I tried to make the motor as close to the carriage center as possible, while making sure that the motor isn't sticking out too much, that would negatively affect the printing area.
Because of this, you won't lose printing space in any direction, so you can have full X, Y and Z motion without any restrictions. (e.g. 235, 235, 250 for Ender 3)

It is mounted press fit onto the spacers of the V-Slot pulley wheels and sits on the X-carriage plate with a groove for extra stability.

You won't have to change anything to the printer or to the firmware to be able to use this mount.
But you will need an extension cable for the stepper motor, as the original cables are not long enough to cover the full range of motion.

It won't interfere with Hero Me Gen 4 (image, Gen 5?), or Bullseye (image) fan duct, but for the Bullseye, you will need to cut a little bit off from the cable holder, as seen on the image.
(If you think this mount would be in the way of another model that you use or would want to use, then share the link of it, and I will check it for you.)

If you are using the Creality BLTouch mount, you can choose between two options:

  • Use the slightly weakened design, made to fit between the X carriage plate and the BLTouch mount, or
  • Cut off the top 5-6mm of the mount, to not interfere with the printed part
(Personally I cut off mine, as it is just a steel part and the top of it has no real use other than to reach to the top of the carriage plate for the looks)

The design is optimised for:

  • Nozzle: 0.4
  • Line Width: 0.48
  • Layer Height: 0.2

Must use support for the mount!
I used Wall Line Count of 8, which is most likely not necessary, but don't print it with less than 4!

Added Stepper Motor Cable Chain adapter. Use it between the Stepper Motor and the Extruder or at the end of the Stepper Motor.
