Summary

Dave Jones (EEVBlog) did a nice review of the D20V2A power supply module, which is a cheap DC-to-DC converter available for about $30 on EBay.This thing shows you how to turn this part into a miniature desktop lab power supply.

The holes in the case are sized for an M3 screw. You will need to tap the hole to get a good thread (don't listen to the haters, PLA taps just fine :-)

The technique for getting a nice shiny finish on the face is - take clear acrylic sheet, spray pain one side of it, and then cut. Not install it so that the unpainted side faces the user - you will see the color through the acrylic, but with the shine from the unpainted surface. You can also etch away the paint for text, logo, etc, and then overpaint with a contrasting color. If you do this, remember to etc your text/log mirrored, because you'll be looking at it flipped over (see the video for details).
