A remix of DA17's excellent design for the flare from Deep Rock Galactic. Their original design was intended to use glowsticks as a light source, however it is possible to engineer a solution where it is lit electronically and the batteries are changeable.
This required moving the locations of the screw holes in the cap and making a cutout for a switch, and engineering a single-piece tube down the middle which can be printed in transparent filament.
These are what I used to provide the lighting.
Note that the setup I used is at the lower end of requirements to power a LED noodle - if desired it is possible to engineer a more powerful power supply.
Also note that just like the original, you will need two M3x10 screws to hold the top plate in place.
The center tube piece has a cut-out section. This goes into the top piece of the flare and provides room for the electronics, and the LED noodle is fed down and back up the tube to ensure light comes from all parts of it. The circuit is of course very simple - just make sure you don't wire the switch to the board without feeding the wires through the gap for the switch in the cap piece.
The tube can be attached to the end pieces with hot glue, and the same can be used to attach the switch to the cap (carefully). It can be a bit of a tight fit with the circuitry but there is enough room in there to allow for some excess wire for easy battery changing.
Note that the tube has a very tight tolerance with the end pieces so depending on your print settings you may need to scale down the X/Y ~2% if it's too tight. I recommend printing a smaller testing ring of the tube to find the best tolerance for you.
