Summary

I liked the original by corecode very much but read that chains for more than 10 sprockets should be changed at 0.5% stretch while chains for less than 10 sprockets can be changed after 0.75% stretch maximum. With this in mind, I have added the 0.75% gauge with text showing which side applies to >10 and <10 sprockets.

Push the double end into a chain link (this takes up play in the rollers) and check that the single end (indicated as <10: 0.75% or >10:0.5%) does not drop into the 5th link. If the gauge drops in easily, then you need a new chain.
