This thing was made with Tinkercad.
Update 1: 18 degree horsehead added. Recent testing suggest that the 18 degree horsehead is very good with hard steering springs and gyro, even on slippery surfaces.
Update 2: Uploaded separate files for each part, for the one who doesn't have access to cad software.
Racing conversion kit for the X-Rider cx3-II 1:10 scale RC Motorcycle. Originally designed by Dany Boudin remixed by Mikael Bredberg.
The original cx3 bike have a complicated chassie with a lot of delicate plastic parts and it’s not stiff enough for higher speeds really, so here is the racing conversion. The axle distance is increased by 10mm due to lack of room in the chassie. Maybe there will be a future chassie design that match the original 145mm, stay tuned for updates.
There is no additional hardware needed except spur and pinion. Well, maybe a longer 3mm steering axle.
Feel free to use the original steering springs but the setup will have to be changed. The o-ring setup in the pics is really simple and it works great but that's a different story.
The new chassie design is really stiff and I made room for bigger batteries.
There are four different "horse head" steering blocks with respectively,19,20,21 and 22 degree rake angle to choose from. Feel free to experiment! My choice is 19 or 20, with the gyro still in use. 21 or 22 is probably a good choice, running the bike without the gyro (Wich I haven't tested yet).
The original drive shaft, pulley and gear can be used. Turn the pulley around to align the belt. Ignore the pre-ground flat spots on the axle, they are not really needed. The gear can be used as mount for the spur gear. Remember to take out the hardening before trying to drill or tap. A 64 teeth Venom GPV-1 spur gear and a 14 teeth pinion produce more than enough speed, using a 5200kv brushless motor.
The receiver and esc will not fit inside the chassie but I pushed all the excess cables in there.
