This is intended to screw to a stable surface to hold odds and ends cutlery that might not have come with a block. The plugs then cover the screw holes. The slot is 1/10" wide, and there are a few different versions for various blade widths. The measurement in the file name corresponds to the width of the slot in the block, not the width of the block. There is about half an inch of room on either side of the slot to accommodate wider handles. The wall at the base of the screw hole is 1/4" thick.
