The file 'Cute 3D Printable Penguin/Baby Penguin With Drawer Organizer Secret Compartment 3D Printer Model' is (stl) file type, size is 443.16 KB.
Hi
This is a penguin art piece that has a functional component - its belly is designed to be printed separately from the main penguin body, and slides out to expose a storage compartment. No latching mechanism is provided, so adding some tape or material to the bottom may be helpful.
The main design goals were: aesthetically pleasing and "cute", geometrically simple/easy to print, and functional - because people tend to remember gifts they use in their lives more.
This design was originally created in 2015 as a personal Christmas gift for a friend. They seemed to like it, so I decided to share it here. Since then, it has attracted significant attention, and as such, I have decided to update the description to improve the language and readability. However, the files remain unchanged. If there is interest, I can try to check if I can extract the source files from Autodesk Fusion 360.
Most of the inspiration for this design is from pictures of baby penguins from Google Images. However, there was no fixed reference used to "trace" this design - it is not a derivative, and was designed "from scratch".
The original penguin which I printed was 200 mm tall. Many community members have had success printing it at various other sizes.
Please feel free to do whatever you like with the design - I've permissively licensed it in hopes it will be useful to the community. However, I won't be able to provide very much support for it anymore, given the age of the design.
Thank you!
