Summary

This is my design of a cutaway pin tumbler lock where you can see the inner mechanism.

Instructions:
Print the core, body, clip, and lid.
Note that You will need some supports when printing all these parts except for the clip. If you are unsure how to use supports use the default full supports settings of your slicer.

The lock uses 9mm diameter pins. The key pins are marked A,B,C,D,E according to the length A being the shortest and E the longest. Print as many as you need according to the key. I have provided several key options each marked with the pin combination for that key. You can use the lock simulator (see link at the end) to generate any key combination. Note that because of MACS you cannot have AE or EA combinations.

You have 5 options for driver pins. I chose the most common drivers models. Print as many of each as you want.

Springs: The lock uses 9mm x 35mm x 0.5mm springs, they are readily available on Chinese websites such as Aliexpress. I would not recommend going above 0.5mm diameter coil on the spring as it will be hard to insert and remove the key.

Finishing: I used 200 grit sandpaper to finish the pin tips, especially if you print with brims. If you want to finish the key I think 600-1500 grit works best. You may need to use a round file to round off the core hole in the lock body. I also used a 9mm drill bit to clean the pin chambers.

Assembly: Insert the core into the lock body. Note that the sides are not identical and it needs to be flush with the lock front. Make sure that the core can spin freely with the key.
Put the clip on the back of the core so that it doesn't come out. For each chamber put the key pin (round side first), a driver pin, and a spring. Do this for all the chambers. Now fit the lid into the slot (the lid is symmetrical so any direction should work). Push on each spring and slide the lid on top of it.

Good luck!
