This thing adds a simple lamp chassis for my stereographic picture projector v2: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1922547
The projector itself now has a thread to mount it to the chassis which can be easily replaced to experiment with different lamp designs without having to reprint the whole thing. The chassis that is generated allows to mount a LED with a cooler exactly at the north pole and create a simple lamp. I used an 1W and a 10W Highpower-LED, they can be found here: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00S4U0XL4, https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00A092NY2. The cooler is in the chassis surrounded by plastic, so it probably is not as effective as it could be, but I let the 10W LED run for 3 hours and it only got a little warm. I used this one: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00NQA1U8C. When you use another cooler you can modify the radius/height in the customizer to make it fit. I don't have any experience in lamp building, so this probably can be improved a lot, but it can also serve as basis for remixing it into something more useful/beautiful. The possibility to simply screw it onto a different chassis helps a lot with this, also it allows to switch the projectors witout building multiple lamps.
The preview is too slow and does not render correctly, so I used a workaround to display a simplified version, the created stl will be correct.
If you want to try the thing locally with OpenSCAD you need to switch the part to "projector" or "lamp" to get the respective part, "preview" is the default. This fiddle can help to generate the image array: http://jsfiddle.net/threonin/6dr8qu41/
I printed everything in 0.3mm, seems to work fine. With higher resolutions you can probably crank out a little more detail, but the difference will not be very big.
Edit: Made some small performance improvements by rewriting screw thread library to use a single polyhedron.
A high res version with 85x85 pixels is here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2094215
