Summary

Short: Its a scalable customizable ship build set. You can make it as short or long as you want. I will be making more parts to turn it in to other boats as well as rc functions in the future. Feel free to make your own customizations.

Long:This ship is my first entry for the make it float challenge. I found the challenge instructions very broad, having no size limit I assumed the object would have to fit on a maker bot instead of a huge 12x12 printer. With that in mind I made this container ship out of interchangeable components that could fit on a standard printer and be assembled after. I made it in multiple parts because the challenge was aimed at seeing how much weight(currency) an entry can hold. The law of buoyancy states that the upward force from the water is directly proportional to the amount of water displaced by the object. So in reality shape has nothing to do with flotation other then stability. Its the size of the object that determines the amount of weight it can hold. So to hold more weight you must displace more water. No matter how fancy the design is, it comes down to the bigger the better. So in reality a giant box would work the best but I found that a design like that fails to make any kind of aesthetic appeal which I believe brings life and inspiration from science (nature does a real good job of it.)

Features:
â—‹Sturdy construction; Keep playing with it like a play set after you print it.
â—‹Customization; Mix and match and print however many you want to build any size of boat.
â—‹Segmented; Many smaller parts allow for a larger boat from even the smallest printers.
