Update (11 July 2022): The design now provides for an additional round thru hole. Unfortunately, Thingiverse's "Customizr" does not display the parameters properly. For custom designs, you may need to open the file knurled_knob_v2a.scad directly in OpenSCAD yourself. I had no problems running the model with OpenSCAD version 2020.11.11.
This provides a customizable knurled knob with an optional hole that can be square, hexagonal, round, or D-shaped. A number of the samples provided were intended for 7/16-inch (11.2mm) hex nuts or bolt heads.
For a D-shaped hole, select "circular" for hole type, and a value of around 0.2 for "hole clip." You may need to experiment with different values to find out what works best.
The rendering was produced in Blender 3.1. The nut and bolt models were from McMaster-Carr.
I hope you will find the design useful!
