Summary

Servo conversion mounting bracket for Crossbow radio controlled ornithopters. This allows you to replace the conventional gearbox in the Crossbow or Crossbow 2 RC ornithopter, instead using two standard size servos to flap the wings. Hitec HSB-9360TH servos are recommended.

This is a proven design that flies. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qfwlbx-aUCw

Required hardware:
Eight 4-40x3/8" flat head machine screws for mounting the servos to the bracket.
Two 4-40x1/4" wide head machine screws for securing the side arms of the bracket
to the sides of the fuselage.
One 6-32X7/16" round head machine screw and washer for mounting the
bracket to the front mounting hole in the bottom of the fuselage.

The screw holes need to be tapped with the appropriate size taps.

I added a servo arm that has been extended to the right length for the Crossbow wings. The original part shown in the photo was machined aluminum. I have not flight tested this 3DP version. If you decide to try this, print it with tough PLA or another high strength filament. Use 100% infill with thick walls.

Consider printing without supports by resting the recessed area around the screw hole onto the build plate. This will yield a flat side on the ferrule, which should not be any problem. If you print with supports, some sanding may be needed.

Adjust the horizontal expansion to get a tight fit onto the servo.
