I wanted to fletch some heavy 1/2" diameter crossbow bolts of approximate medieval design.
Having no goose feathers on hand, I figured a 3d printed one could be a decent alternative.
Upon searching I found a cool idea by Tal84: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3650087 and designed my own version for a crossbow, where only two flights are used. I put a 3.6° twist into the design, as the heavy bolt will be going slower and intuitively I think a more aggressive twist will generate better spin for accuracy.
The stl is solid, in order for it to work it needs to be printed with "spiralize outer contour" in cura, or "vase mode" in some other slicers.
