This Modification for the Creality CR-M4 3D Printer eliminates the cable loop sticking out of the back of the print bed, thus shortening the overall length of the machine to 94.5cm. After adding this mod the machine will fit comfortably within a 1 meter deep enclosure and will not contact the back wall during operation.

There are 6 total stl files, composed of 2 sets of 3 STL files, with each set comprised of:

1) Mount for the Chassis end of drag chain
2) Mount for the Y-axis carriage end of drag chain
3) Both of the above mounts in a single STL file

One set (with HSI in the filenames) is designed to accept M3 Heat Set Inserts.
The other set (with NHSI in the filenames) is designed for M3 screws to self-tap into the part directly, with no heat set inserts.

Additional parts needed:

1 ea. 10mmx11mm Cable Drag Chain with 23 links in addition to the 2 end anchors.
1 ea. M4x25mm socket head machine screw.
1 ea. M4 nylon insert nut.

The Drag Chain has one flexible end anchor and one rigid end anchor. Orient the chain with its rigid end attached to the chassis mount, and its flexible end at the Y-axis Carriage mount. The Chassis mount attaches at the middle hole in the right-hand 2020 T-slot rail beneath the right-hand Y-axis linear rail (as viewed from the front). The Y-axis cable should be routed up behind the chassis mount. It has a feature to tuck the cable along and secure it with a tie-wrap to ensure that the linear rail bearing does not impact the cable when the bed moves back fully.

The Carriage mount replaces the plastic Y-axis cable management clip that is affixed to the right-rear corner of the bed. This corner bed screw is the only screw that must be removed from the machine to make this modification. When removing the old plastic cable management clip, re-use the spacer that was between it and the bed. That spacer fits into the recess in the top of the new carriage mount.
