V2.6 UPDATE 4/30/2018 (Minor)
Changed circular mounting hole on the left side of part to an oblong to better fit the steel bracket and part tolerances.
Changed the air outlets to be more streamlined
4/26/2018 - I PRINTED THIS THING SUCCESSFULLY WITH ZERO INFILL!
But.. - Depending on your Slicer and how it handles the initial bridging layer you may find that using 5%-10% infill works better, so print at 5% with confidence or try 0% infill for a lighter part.
PETG or ABS Recommended (Haven't attempted PLA)
Others have tried PLA with success, but that may come with limitations like ABS printing at higher temps and a sealed enclosure but I am unable to confirm that PLA will not work under those circumstances. My recommendation to use PETG and/or ABS stands until I can comfortable vouch for PLA. I printed the v2.7 out of PLA to test it for myself and so far its doing fine, but I've only printed more PLA.
Print with what would be the top to the bed for best results (so upside down like the image shows).
Do not use supports unless your slicer allows you to put supports at specific locations. You do not want supports filling the airflow channels or you may never get the support material cleared out.
Bridging is required, so if you aren't confident you can bridge be sure to try a bridging test part. The bridging required is over short distances of 3/4" or less.
Layer height has been printed at .3mm and lower with success.
The stock extruder fan snaps into the top using small rounded bumps where the screws holes are located. I feel its worth mentioning that you should not have to apply a lot of pressure to get the fan to snap in, but if you do and you end up breaking your fan.. Well.. just don't do that, and make sure you trim the bumps down slightly until you can more easily install the fan. Mine fit first time, and it's snug and is removable with little effort.
I'll be improving this piece over time and will provide a file with a higher resolution once I'm comfortable with an actual release.
Both mounting locations the stock housing required are available on this part, but the back hole will have to be screwed in from the backside should you desire to use it. I currently have it installed with only one screw and have not yet checked the back hole for alignment. Although my claim is that this will require no extra hardware I believe the back mounting hole may require a longer screw to properly engage the printed part, but it totally up to you whether or not you choose to use that screw location. I will update with the proper screw required once I know that info.
Please do not hold me responsible if you have trouble printing or are otherwise displeased. This part is in still in the work in progress stage and have only added it here due to request.
Hope this works for you!
