The file 'COVID-19 Mask Cap, Gundam RX-78 Edition 3D Printer Model' is (stl) file type, size is 1.2MB.
Note: this includes LaFactoria3D's original mask parts that this is designed to fit. It's a great design, and I include it here because they have since updated the mask base in a way this cannot fit. If you feel their updated version provides better protection I urge you to use it instead.
While printing mask parts for Lowell Makes I wanted to find some way to help healthcare workers relieve some stress. Making replaceable caps seems the best way to help; these clip right onto existing masks without interfering with function and maybe they can lighten the mood in pediatrics.
Another request: Mobile Suit Gundam's ubiquitous RX-78. I haven't yet had time to test print this but the fitting is relatively simple and should work with little trouble. I expect it would look best with the Giant Robot Cap that ThinkGeek used to sell.
The main piece can be printed in it's current position but I would block any supports to the top connection shelf (it should work fine without them). This would save time and material, but if in doubt don't bother blocking them.
The top piece will also need supports. Cura shows it slices well when angled (nose upward or downward) around 45 degrees. I would do that anyway if only to get a cleaner top surface with fewer layering steps.
Instructions on how to assemble the rest of the mask efficiently and good materials to use can be found here, thanks to GiveWave Studios: https://youtu.be/9ItpExBEieY
If you find any issues with it or it my instructions are not clear, please let me know so I can make adjustments.
