I designed a number of connectors with to make decorative fencing, railings and ladders etc. for use with the fischertechnik construction system from 6 mm hose. I'm pretty sure there are many other applications for your own projects.
Some fischertechnik construction kits contain short lengths (3, 5, 6 and 11 cm) of LDPE hose. Similar material can be easily (and inexpensively) purchased online. I designed some corner connectors and fittings to construct decorative ladders, fences and railings with the original material, or this substitute air pressure hose (PU tube).
The hose used has an inner diameter of 4mm and an outer diameter of 6mm. The hose material I found online had a faint, white imprint. While I didn't find it necessarily distracting, I was able to easily remove this text with acetone (or nail polish remover).
Pictured are a few examples of railings for a steam train model. Perhaps in time new designs will be added.
