For personal use only. DO NOT PRINT TO SELL
I sincerely hope others will enjoy my designs. I am always pleased to hear about successful or useful prints. Please post a photo of successful ‘makes’ if you can.
I enjoy designing and making model buildings and functional items. They take many hours to design, test and refine. I share for free and NOT FOR OTHERS TO MAKE COMMERCIAL PROFIT. Please read my profile before downloading.
BRICK and SLATE COTTAGE
I designed this as scenery for my model railway. It's not great but I'm pleased with it.
I have test printed twice and it prints well using PLA on an Ender 3 Pro. No need for a brim or supports.
Note. I have had a report that the roof tiles do not print well. I will review and rectify this soon.
Careful filing of window frames and a bit of sanding on the roof improves the appearance.
I have painted using Humbrol Enamel. The bricks are embossed. I painted them using an overall coat of Humbrol Matt 83. Then I used a 'dry brush' sweep of Humbrol Matt 113 to get a basic brick colour, leaving the lighter colour visible in the gaps. Then, with a very fine brush, I picked out some individual bricks using red, green, grey and various browns. The roof is a mixture of Humbrol Matt 27 and 66. I found the need for two thick coats on the roof to disguise the printer marks which made the embossed slates look like basket weave.
I hope someone finds this design useful. Please post photos. Any issues - please post a (polite) message or comment and I'll try to fix it.
UPDATE
I have now added two further files. These include supports for the porch.
