Cooling fan duct for Sunhokey Prusa I3 June 2015 model.
The mounting is designed to hold 2 powerful blowers which will provide you with that extra cooling you need. Air is directed away from the nozzle so it is not affecting the filament extrusion and do not coll down the print head.
When set up properly most small overhangs can be printed completely without support.
Versions:
To fit the blower mounting you will need to disassemble the Sunhokey Prusa I3 print-head cooling fan and change it for E3D compatible click-on radiator 20mm fan (please refer to the last section for more details). It is advised to print the thing in ABS as it will be exposed to the heat radiating from the print-head. Although I printed it initially in PLA and used for more than a week without any problems I do not recommend that to others.
IMPORTANT! When printing with ABS, blowers will significantly reduce printed parts temperature causing ABS to curl. I strongly advice to switch them when printing first layer and increase the print bed temperature by at least 20 degrees when activated. I personally print ABS on bed heated up to 130-140C.
There is no such effect on PLA prints.
