The universal FocusCube by Pegasus Astro uses a bracket to connect the motor to the focuser.
Unfortunately there are rarely suitable flat faces on the focuser to securely screw this bracket to. That is particularly the case with the Feathertouch focusers.
This thing is designed to sit flush on the surface of the focuser, giving it an even face to connect the bracket to without bending it or scratching the very expensive focuser.
I have the 2.5" version of the focuser. I don't know if it fits to oter diameters, but it is possible. I also still have the version 2 of the FocusCube, but here I am pretty sure that this will also fit to the newer version.
