Summary

MINI-CASE FOR SAFETY SEAL REPAIR KIT

This is a more portable, 3D printed case for the Safety Seal ‘Auto & Light Truck’ tire repair kit. It contains everything necessary to fix two flats plus a number of extra items you might need during the process. Ideal for motorcycle use.

Specifications:
• Height: 31mm (1.22 in) Closed
• Width: 188 mm (7.40 in)
• Depth (basic case): 122 mm (4.80 in)
• Depth (w/clasps and hinge): 136.2 mm (5.36 in)
• Weight (case only): 318.3 g (0.70 lbs)
• Volume 48.44 cu.in. (w/clasps and hinge). Original case is 132 cu.in
• About 37% of the original case volume.

The case holds the following items from the standard kit:
• Insertion Needle & plunger
• Spiral probe
• Safety seal 4” repair strips
• Safety seal special lube
• Allen key
• Spare ¼-20 setscrew
• Safety razor blade
• Spare insertion needle

The case also holds the following items (user to purchase):
• Mini flashlight (Lumintop EDC01, $10 from Amazon)
• Hand sanitizer
• Paper towel
• Needle nose pliers (Pittsburgh 5-3/4 in. $3 from Harbor Freight)
• AAA battery

The following features are of note:
• Piano hinge design for reliability.
• The hinge pin is a piece of 1.75 mm dia filament.
• The Allen key can be used to remove the AAA battery and pliers
• Pliers provide a means to remove the cause of the puncture
• The spare setscrew screws into its recess to prevent loss (insert or remove with Allen key)
• The jars of lube and hand sanitizer are 3D printed, clearly labeled and each sealed with an O-ring (Dash 214).
• A finger slot enables easy removal of the two T-handles and spare needle.
• The case lid includes a 45 deg socket that holds the flashlight at an angle to provide hands free light.
• The AAA battery slot could be used for a spare battery or the primary flashlight battery to prevent flashlight damage should the battery leak (possible if unused for extended periods).
• The T-handle slots are identical permitting the T handles to be replaced in either position or orientation.
• The plunger must be assembled onto the needle before use. The plunger is separate to permit the case height to be as low as possible and protrudes slightly through the lid.
• Cut two Safety Seal strips (still in their paper) from the supplied sets. Place in long rectangular recess.
• Fold a ½ sheet paper towel into thirds and the fold open end over about 0.75 in. Continue folding remainder of towel. Place in long rectangular recess.
• The sanitizer and paper towel permit hand cleanup after repair.
• The selected flashlight is water resistant.

Don’t forget to resupply your kit after each use!
Carry extra seals separately in a Ziplock bag for longer trips.

EDIT: I have just uploaded CREO 9.0.0.0 prt files to permit slight changes to clearances for those that do not use a PRUSA MK4 printer (on which the current dimensions were developed).
