Intro
The goal of this project was to make a small compact dart launching mechanism that will be the basis for a parlor pistol in the future. As always, I aim to avoid rafting and support.
There are 3 types of triggers to choose from, here is the lowdown on each.
You can see a demonstration here: http://youtu.be/l3LeLbWkE0o
I have printed this and the range is quite good. I would estimate at 40 feet. I am unsure of FPS, but the gun will for sure poke out your eye so I recommend eye protection. Front sight is not correct height, and rear sight will be added if I get around to it, so for now the gun shoots low if you utilize the sight now.
Trigger is not a classic trigger where the user pulls back, instead, you push your finger forward to fire the gun. V1F trigger is a forward trigger that is easier to use, but prevents the gun from being as compact as it could be. V1F trigger is not pictured.
To load the gun, pull back the bolt, hold, and then push the trigger upwards towards the receiver. Next load projectile, and fire as stated above.
Pictured version is V1 release.
Parts List
Hardware (all available from McMaster-Carr):
Read assembly instructions for more details.
Use
Not for use on people. You will damage someone's ability to see if aim for the face. Do not use as self defense device. Use only as a toy.
Simplification
The bolt could be eliminated, however, the bolt will at some point hold the firing pin for the parlor pistol design, so it is included. Additionally, more than just my darts can be used as the darts are not the catch, the bolt is.
