==== 2015/06/11 ADDED NEW PROPELLER SIZES!! ===
As a new multi-rotor pilot who has gone through many broken props and lost screw caps, I wanted to create a better, more convenient prop adapter.
It needed to:
Designed to sit on top of a standard M5 Prop adapter. The base is locked down with a nut. (Lock tight can be used since this should not need to be removed often)
This is now close to a final version. I really would like your thoughts so that I can continue to improve the design.
I would like to invite my fellow pilots/printers to PTR (Print - Test - Report)
=== TESTS ===
The follow is a list of things of things to test and report back. They should be performed in the provided order for safety. [Things to report on will be in square brackets]
Check the clip + unclip mechanism - DONE
Check that the clip holds on under varying loads - DONE
=== PART UPDATES ===
2015/04/03 - Added thicker base to clear non-threaded section.
2015/04/03 - Rotated parts for Ideal printing directionality.
2015/04/05 - Several Changes to Tolerances and thicknesses. Adjusted cut - out for M5 Nut to fit more snugly
2015/04/09 - Added shaft to clip to keep the fan centered
2015/04/09 - Improved M5 Nut fit
2015/04/09 - Several Improvements for Unclipping
2015/04/09 - Lock-On Mechanism is more tolerant
2015/05/06 - Clips now lock onto the propeller much more tight, removing and wiggle during flight.
2015/05/06 - Added Designs for:
Gemfan 5030 - 5045 - 6045
HQ Prop 6045
=== POST UPDATES ===
2015/04/03 - Started a list of tests.
2015/04/03 - Ran some stress and displacement simulations. Here's the Report
According the report (Obviously In Ideal Conditions and Non laminated ABS) - The component slips at between 200 - 300 N (approx 30kg of force) per prop adapter (Total of 120Kg for a Quad). The report provided is for 150N (Approx 15kg) per prop adapter. It gives me some piece of mind over the strength of the clips. This is only to meant provide some comfort in the design. Real life will not give these ideal results.
2015/05/20 - Zevi Rubin made a explanation video with the latest V0.9.23 Click! Adapters on 5030 - VIDEO
