A two part star that can be printed in vase mode(*) and a pole/stick which together with a cheap led light string (or two) will hopefully make a nice tree topper.
This is a work in progress, I will post updated model files if they change, and build photos as I finish the build.
The join is not great (the corners of the "inside" section curled up quite a lot, and away from the seam), if I were to spend more time on it I would try make it snap together - the main goal for this model was to make it sturdy enough to glue together, but printable (mostly) in vase mode - so the lights look pretty inside.
You need to orient the join "ring" towards the bed. Then set the number of solid bottom layers to print the join solidly (10mm, or 20 layers @0.2mm). I also set the outer wall line width to 0.6mm on my 0.4mm nozzle to get a decent fused face at this angle.
Assembly plan is to make a hole in the back face where the handle connects, feed the LED string(s) in, glue them in place (hot glue? will that deform the PLA too much?), then glue the star halves together and glue the stick on. The hope is I can clip the stick to the tree, maybe needing cable ties.
I've printed the star in white PLA, the stick in black PLA.
