Summary

Sharing a frame I designed in FreeCAD and have been flying for a few months now. I've yet to have a frame break on me and I've flown into a few tree trunks, tree branches, and my metal shed. Sadly the canopy is another story. Still trying to figure out a decent canopy that can house the C04/M04 camera/vtx combo that comes in a Cetus X. There are a few other creators on here that have canopies which I've been trying so you may want to seek one of those out. I think my downfall there is I always printed the canopies in PLA or PETG and should really just try TPU.

Anyway, this isn't about other people's canopies. This frame is pretty straight forward. Motors have a .5mm slot to fit in for easy positioning. I tend to use slightly longer screws than the original Cetus X screws for motor mounting however the originals may work as well. To strap the battery, I use a velcro cable tie. It's wrapped under the FC and can secure the batteries to bottom of the frame. Usually I rubberband the two 1S batteries together with very small rubberbands made for hair. You don't have to do this, I just find it easier to velcro the strap when they're one unit instead of two separate batteries. Eventually I intend on replacing the plug with an XT30 and just using 2S batteries. I've also attached a piece of double sided tape to the frame where the batteries rest against. It's not for the stickiness. It's more for the friction. I've yet to have the batteries detach in any crash so that seems to do the trick.

TL;DR. Things you'll optionally need

  • Motor screws
  • Motors from Cetus X
  • A canopy setup that will work with Cetus X camera/vtx combo (There's one here on thingiverse)
  • Cetus X FC
  • Velcro cable tie
  • Double sided tape
  • Screws to attach canopy to frame. I use M2x8 or M2x10
