This just kind of came to me when I was thinking about old disc spindles and 2000s futurism/scifi decor. Basically its a base that the spindle slides up into with a friction fit but can also be glued, and then spacers to hold the discs apart to let light shine through. The base gives enough room for a lighting solution of your choice, I did my testing with a flashlight and also fairy lights (I am waiting on some fairy lights for a permanent install). The spindle is completely hollow so you can either feed lights in or shine a light up into it.
For mine I did spacer - disc shiny side down - disc shiny side up - spacer - repeat. I printed the base in a nice blue grey PLA and the spindle and spacers with a clear PETG
