Cancer is a terrible thing. If affects not just it's victims but friends, family and loved ones. Raising awareness and doing what we can to help is critical of us.

I recently designed and built this guitar as a tribute to Jurgen Zoller, an Australian Luthier who battled Leukaemia for a long time. But it was also an acknowledgement to my own leukeamia journey. This guitar is being donated Jurgens family for them to do with what they choose. They may choose to donate it the Leukaemia Foundation to help raise aware or they may put it under a bed. Doesn't matter.

It then occurred to me, that many of you out there would also like a chance to raise awareness about a particular form of cancer that may have touched your life. So, I'm offering to you here the chance to build your own Hopecaster.

But how does building a cancer ribbon shaped guitar raise awareness? You don't have to donate it to a charity raise awareness. Build it, play it and post it on your social media. The moment ONE person views it, you've raised their awareness. Even just one... helps. If you don't believe me, ask the little boy who was throwing the starfish back into the ocean.

Print this in whatever colour you deem neccessary. But, I bet you already knew what colour you were choosing when you clicked the link. For that, I'm sorry. F#ckCancer.

If you already built a Prusacaster or have the parts for a Telecaster, you have everything you need ready to go!

I've included two sets of files. One set is the dual color print. The second is the single colour print.

If you have no parts... here you go! Here is your list!

Neck: Telecaster! It's a 25.5" scale and the neck pocket cutout is designed to suit a Telecaster Necks

Bridge: Musiclily Telecaster with 3 mounting screws. Look, I'm only going to say this once. If you use any other type of bridge other than the standard triple saddle vintage, you'll have different mounting holes for the screws, you'll need to modify the body as the intonation is going to be out. You're welcome to message me with a link to the bridge you have and I'll modify the file and add it to the collection. If you modify it yourself, you're welcome to post a remix. But for now... use this Telecaster Bridge

Pickup: For now, I've only designed a single coil bridge pick up design. Either myself or someone else will probably add a humbucker version. but for now... take your pick! Telecaster Bridge Pickup

Controls and wiring: I'm actually not going to suggest a Telecaster wiring harness here... instead, I'm going to suggest a Precision bass wiring harness. Both pots are 500Kohm, capacitor is .047, while ideally you would use 250Kohm pots for a single coil, there is no rule that you have to do so ok? Don't make your life harder than it needs to be. Buy yourself a kit like this P Bass wiring harness and you'll only need to solder the pick up wires to the volume pot.

Now, before someone says "Hey numbnuts, you forgot to include a wire path for grounding the bridge, it's going to hum like crazy" well, you're half right, I didn't include it but I didn't forget. It's a Tele bridge, the pickup is mounted to the bridge and is also grounded. Consequently, the bridge is grounded by default.

Pro Tip! Buy yourself an Telecaster EMG active bridge pickup and you'll get an amazing sound, plus all of the controls, wiring, connectors you need! No soldering!

Output Jack: Trust me, go get this guy... it's awesome. I pretty much use it on EVERY build I do. Even the non Fenders! Telecaster Output Jack

Strap Pins: Go to ebay, amazon or place of choice and search for guitar strap pins.

Once the guitar is assembled, wired, strung and tuned... It'll probably play like a wet noodle and just be bad to play in general. Before you go thinking it's a bad print job or I'm a terrible designer, you need to setup the guitar. The nut probably needs a little bit of file and the slots filed correctly. The truss rod in the neck hasn't been set yet, the string height is probably all over the place and the strings are either mashed hard against the fretboard or sitting so high above the fretboard, you could park a truck underneath it! And we haven't even got to the intonation yet!

I'd probably suggest grabbing one of these as well Guitar Tool Kit It doesn't provide the best quality tools, but to be honest, for 1 or 2 guitars, it's going to get the job done for you.

Can I make a suggestion? if you wondering if your intended use is potentially going to break this agreement, just ask me. For crying out loud, just ask. It's highly unlikely I say no... and if you think I won't find out, maybe you're right? But you could also be surprised.
