If you want to see what else is in the works, follow my instagram! @wiseprints206

Like my stuff? you can find more things I've designed at: https://thangs.com/designer/wiseprints

6.1.2022: It seems that the remixed arms for smaller printers are not able to withstand the crushing force. I decided to make my own version of the arms for people with smaller printers! The largest arm piece is now 229mm long, and it should fit on the ender 3 bed just fine (especially if you print at an angle). I have not chopped up the main body part for smaller printers, as I have not seen any comments of issues with the remix pieces. All the pieces for folks with smaller printers are labeled, you will need a different handle pin length with my new design, which I have included. I hope everyone reading this has a wonderful day today! :)

1.27.2022: looks like sgateman and TontoTraveler made a remix for fitting this on smaller print beds! I have not tested them and cannot verify if they work but check out the remixes if you need this to fit a smaller bed. Happy printing!

9.17.2021: I made one small change to the base file, to make it easier to screw into the wall.

9.16.2021: This is now fully functional! have fun using it!

9.11.2021: Ok so I found one more issue, at the top of the main body, the rail section needs to be connected a bit better, after a few cans it broke. Just added the updated file that I think will fix the issue and I'm printing it now to test.

Settings

I only used PLA, the main body is 40% infill, wall thickness 6 (you could probably get away with 20% and wall thickness 4), the pins and arms are 99% infill and wall thickness of somewhere between 4-6 layers. The spacers, pin caps, and main body can be 20% infill and standard wall thickness (they don't need any structural stability). The resolution is 0.38mm (high speed and lower resolution).

Let me know in the comments if you have any issues with the design so I can improve it further. I hope this helps some people out, happy printing!

UPDATE 9.10.2021: This works! Crushes cans great so far, my infill is at 99 percent on the pins and arms, you may be able to get away with less but I know 99 percent works (99 is better than 100 actually, because it keeps the infill pattern. idk hard to explain, just take my word for it). I will upload pictures later today, but for now you can see it on my Instagram! I may make a couple more tweaks here and there, but it will not impact the design too much.

UPDATE 9.2.2021: Found more flaws, and hopefully fixed them! Printing version 2.5 now, we will see how it works now! I updated the picture to accurately represent the new design, the pins were just not strong enough, so I beefed them up quite a bit. All the new files are now uploaded, and I will update when I finish testing!

UPDATE 8.23.2021: printed, tested, and it needs a couple modifications. The main arm needs to be longer and thicker to put more force on the can. Also, I would like to make a handle that feels a bit better. I just added the files that I changed, But I still need to print the revisions. Will update when finished.

UPDATE 8.22.2021: printing now, pins are tight so I'm making another looser version of the pins, I also saw that someone had trouble with the 3mf file base so I will upload a stl of the base for them.

Reason for build

I designed this can crusher, because I didn't want to buy one, and the other designs on thingiverse would not allow you to crush taller cans. This is completely PLA (PLA+ would also work great), and no extra off the shelf items or parts are required.

I hope this helps someone!
