Once upon a time, there was a desk in a research laboratory. After a long and useful life of holding up advanced research computers, the desk had become old and wobbly, and was eventually placed at the side of a laboratory break room, to hold snacks for the researchers. Now this old desk had two holes in the top that were once (in happier days) used to guide power cables for the research computers that collected data that advanced human knowledge in science. N ow, without the computers and cables, the holes simply let crumbs, from the researcher's precious and varied snacks, fall to the floor below. The desk was sad and longed, in its old age, not be embarrassed by dropping so many crumbs onto the floor. One day a small Bin, with a simple handle saw the old table weeping quietly at the side of the room and felt sorry for it. It said to the old table, "I can catch those crumbs for you, if you like", and so it did. Suddenly there were no more crumbs on the floor under the table, nor anywhere on the top of the old desk. The researchers noticed this change and began to take great joy in sweeping the crumbs into the bin and then emptying the crumbs into the trash. More and more, the researchers gathered around the old table to enjoy collecting the many crumbs from their many snacks, in the clever crumb collector, while they talked about their ideas and how they wanted to plan new and exciting research projects. Once again, the old desk was at the very center of what was truly special about the laboratory. The old desk had found a new purpose, and it was happy...
