Here is a recreated "resistor pack" that is common on C3 corvettes original gauges. The original resistance is calibrated at 90 Ohms. With this pack you can modify the resistance to work with the replacement gauge senders that are not 100% accurate.
The OEM Sensor on the engine will read about 80 Ohms when at 212F Replacement sensors read 102 OHMS at 212F.
In my case I am installing an LS1 from an 02 Camaro and needed a factory sensor that would fit in the new style heads (M12 x 1.5) I used this "Thing" to re-calibrate my gauge to a lower ohm 1998 Camaro LS1 coolant sensor which read 170 Ohms at 212*F.
It is now within 3 degrees of the factory gauge.
The same calibration resistors can be found on the backs of the oil pressure gauge, the fuel gauge Use Kanthal wire. For mine I used 32gauge and came up with about 30 Ohms in the board. I was told it is exposed to release any heat build up otherwise a traditional resistor might have worked
