I remade my butterfly laptop stand from scratch with the goal to make it more stable, and to support more laptop models.
This design should work with any 13-14" laptop that is no more than 12mm thick (when lid is open). I have tested it with the 13" Macbook with touchbar, 15" Macbook with touchbar, 14" Lenovo Ideapad 720s, and 15" Dell Precision M3800. The Dell turned out to be too thick because of its rubber feet.
For larger machines, you might get away with just scaling this up. Please report back with any findings if you do!
This design does not topple easily in any direction, and is a huge improvement over my last. It even seemed plenty stable with the 15" Macbook, but your mileage may vary. It raises the machine to a ~38 degree angle, which is at the limit of what a Macbook can use while still being able to position the display upright.
I think the next step for this project is to round the corners, as they are dangerously sharp.
I decided to upload this as a new thing instead of updating the old one, as the old one was very specific to one model laptop only. I might remove it entirely.
Update: added new version with rounded corners. I have not printed this yet and can't say for sure if it affects the balance or stability.
