The reason it's so large (5") was to fit the diameter of an Oroweat® onion bun.
For safety's sake (as well as flavor), make sure you line the press (both the base and the lid) with plastic wrap prior to adding or pressing meat. And/or line the insides with a food safe epoxy prior to use.
If you use PLA, DO NOT put it in a dishwasher.
